Whenever I contemplate baking comforting food, two recipes immediately come to my mind. My mom's famous raisin pudding and bread pudding. A nice warm, rich, thick pudding has a taste like no other, making one feel as if they have come home. When I take the first bite, the troubles of the world and the troubles of a hard day just seem to melt away. I hope these baking recipes bring you the same joy.

A dessert that is popular is Bread Pudding.

Two cups of milk.

Cut the butter into pieces, using 4 tablespoons.

Two egg whites.

One-half cup of sugar.

One and a half teaspoons of ground cinnamon

One-eighth teaspoon of ground cloves

Ground mace (with 3 dashes).

One fourth of a teaspoon of salt.

Cube 6 cups of French or Italian bread, each cube being 3/4 of an inch.

Combine milk and butter in a saucepan over low heat. Remove the mixture from the heat and continue to stir until the butter has melted. Let this mixture cool for 10 minutes. Beat the egg and egg whites in a bowl until they become foamy. To the eggs, add the sugar, cinnamon, cloves, mace, and salt. Incorporate the milk mixture into the rest of the ingredients. Include the bread. Put all of it into a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish. Place the dish in a roasting pan and pour in one inch of hot water. Put the dish in the oven at 350 degrees and bake for 40 to 45 minutes. If a knife is inserted halfway between the center and the edge of the pudding, it should come out clean.

In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, baking powder, raisins, milk and salt. Grease a 2 quart casserole dish, and then put the mixture into it. Serving these baking recipes warm, with the ones you love, is the best way.
